Supertech Valve Springs
All Supertech valve springs are made with premium Superclean Chrome Silicon Vanadium Steel alloy. This allows for higher performance & durability at high RPMS. Types of Valve Springs
When browsing Supertechs catalog you will come across 3 types of valve springs offered; Single Spring, Dual Spring & Beehive Spring.
Dual Springs are an ideal option for performance engines with a heavy valvetrain. The two springs rub against each other and act as a damper. The second spring also acts as a safety measure.
Single springs are most commonly found on street cars. They are a single spring with a flat ribbon damper inside. They perform well in a stock engine. However, they produce more friction, heat, and spring wear. Valve lift is limited and valve float can occur earlier than with other spring types.
A Beehive Spring fits in standard spring seats and coil tighter at the top. This allows for more lift before going into coil bind. The combined weight of the spring and smaller retainer is also lighter. This design can control valve float better than a standard spring. These springs offer a lower alternative mass and a lower variable natural frequency rate.
