High Performance Radiators

The purpose of a radiator is to transfer heat from the hot coolant that flows through it to the air blown through it by the fan. When you’re upgrading your 2008 BMW 328i's engine, your motor will produce more heat. The factory radiator cannot withstand these temperatures and properly cool your engine the way it needs to. Performance Radiators, like factory radiators, can be made from aluminum. However, your factory radiator will mostly likely be equipped with a plastic tank. When going with a performance radiator you can opt to having an all aluminum set up, which includes an aluminum tank or you can opt to go with a copper set up. Depending on your cooling needs, the type of radiator needed can range. You can go with a direct fit, or a universal fit. A Universal fit may require some engine modification to fit a larger core. Sport Compact Warehouse is your premier source for High Performance Radiators. Contact a representative today with any questions you have and we will help you make a more informative decision.

A radiator is a heat exchanger. It’s there that the heat absorbed by the coolant in your engine is transferred to the air, enabling the engine to operate within its optimal temperature range. But if you modify the engine, with high compression, forced induction or other means, it will make more horsepower but also create much more heat in the process, more heat than the factory cooling system was engineered to handle. To keep your engine cool, make sure a performance radiator is included in your mods.

Performance radiators are an upgrade over factory units in several ways. They’re constructed from lightweight aluminum, and although aluminum is used for the majority of today’s OE radiators, they often have plastic tanks, which can leak. Our aluminum radiators have aluminum tanks brazed or welded to the core. And while copper has better thermal conductivity, it’s not as strong as aluminum, so copper radiators have to be made thicker and heavier, which negates the material’s heat conducting capabilities.

In addition to superior materials our performance radiators incorporate advanced design gained from knowledge of thermal and fluid dynamics. While specific features will vary according to radiator application, in general performance radiators have larger and/or more tubes than factory radiators to increase coolant flow, along with greater fin density to increase the surface area to which coolant and air are exposed, which results in better heat transfer and a cooler running engine. We offer both crossflow and downflow radiators in direct fit versions that will bolt on in place of your OE radiator, as well as universal radiators for custom applications.
