Performance MidPipes / TestPipes / Catalytic Converters

A midpipe is the pipe that runs between the catalytic converter and the muffler. When upgrading your exhaust, you will need a pipe to connect the exhaust from the catalytic converter to the muffler. Performance midpipes have pipes that temporarily merge. There are two types of midpipes, H-Style and X-style. As the names imply the H-style has a connecting pipe that replicates the letter H. The H-style midpipe crates a more low bass rumble, and creates more torque in low RPMS. The X-pipe, which replicates the letter X, creates a higher pitched raspy tone, and creates more power in higher RPMS.

A Test Pipe is a direct replacement for a catalytic converter. A test pipe will allow for higher exhaust flow. A test pipe can also help you achieve a deeper tone. One thing to keep in mind when installing a test pipe is emissions. Unfortunately when removing the catalytic converter for a performance test pipe you may have a difficult time passing state emissions testing due to removing the catalytic converter.

A catalytic converter helps reduce vehicle emissions. There are 3 specific gasses the catalytic converter help reduce that your vehicle produces which is carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons. These gasses are created during combustion and the catalytic converter helps break them down into water and carbon dioxide. A performance catalytic converter is designed to work better with your new performance exhaust system. They are created to allow a much higher flow so your engine can still perform to its fullest potential rather than be restricted by OE parts. With a performance catalytic converter you wont have to stress about federal law, that pesky check engine light, and passing emission test if they are required near you.
