The throttle body is part of your air intake system. The throttle body controls the amount of air flowing into the engine. Depending on your vehicle its exact function may vary. On older carbureted engines, the throttle body is built into the carburetor and will deliver more fuel as the valves open. In electronically fuel injected cars, the throttle position sensor and air flow sensor communicate with the computer which then supplies the corresponding amount of fuel needed at the injectors. On fuel-injected engines the throttle body is connected to the gas pedal. When you press the gas pedal the “butterfly” in the throttle body pivots allowing more air flow into the manifold. Now that we understand how throttle bodies work, lets talk about Performance throttle bodies. Your factory throttle body was not designed to supply the proper amount of airflow needed for your performance engine. A performance throttle body will allow greater airflow, which results in greater power. Most performance throttle bodies are a direct bolt on making the upgrade super easy process.
